rss_pluginstaller

The rss_pluginstaller plugin is a new way to install and update all of the Textpattern plugins available here at wilshire|one. Once you download and install the PlugInstaller, you will never have to download another wilshire|one plugin again! All plugins can be downloaded and installed or updated right inside your Textpattern installation.

Installation Instructions

1. Download the latest version of MagpieRSS or the version I’m using here.
2. Create a new directory in your /textpattern directory called “magpie”.
3. Copy the rss_cache.inc, rss_fetch.inc, rss_parse.inc and rss_utils.inc files and the extlib directory from the Magpie download to the new /textpattern/magpie directory.
4. Install and activate the rss_pluginstaller plugin as any other plugin.
5. Navigate to the Extensions > PlugInstaller tab.

PlugInstaller Tab Features

• Install new wilshire|one plugins.
• Update plugins to newer versions.
• Provide notifications when new plugin versions are available.
• Activate and deactivate plugins.
• Uninstall plugins.
• View plugin help.

PlugInstaller Tab Preferences

Preferences for the plugin can be set at the bottom of the PlugInstaller tab. The available preferences include:

• Skip Install Preview – By choosing Yes, the plugin will bypass Textpattern’s plugin installation preview process and directly install the plugin into Textpattern. By default, the standard plugin preview process is used.
• Active on Install – By choosing Yes, the plugin will automatically activate the plugin when it is installed into Textpattern. By default, the plugin will not be active. This preference only applies when Skip Install Preview is set to Yes.
