Textpattern QuikPik Admin 0.2

This second release of the QuikPik since it became a true plugin represents a pretty major change from the first version. Version 0.2 however will look much more familiar to anyone who has seen or used the newer versions of the QuikPik Menu Hack.

The major addition in this version of the plugin is the ability to customize its appearance through the Textpattern admin interface. Both the original HTML select list version and the newer Suckerfish Dropdowns versions are included in the plugin.

Once the plugin is installed, just navigate to another tab or reload the admin -> plugins tab. At that point you should be automatically redirected to the admin -> quikpik prefs tab. This tab has 3 settings that allow you to customize the appearance of the plugin. All of your preferences will be saved in a cookie so you’ll have to initialize the plugin on any computer you use to administer your site.

The 3 preferences are as follows:

  • Hide Tabs – Determines whether the standard Textpattern tabs are hidden.
  • Select List Only – Determines the version of the QuikPik menu that is used. When set to yes, the original will be used. When set to no, the Suckerfish menus will be used.
  • QuikPik Style – The CSS used to display the QuikPik Suckerfish menus.

Spiffy! I used QuikPik before too, but I love having it as a plugin instead. One minor problem though: Once the cookies are set, I’m not able to change the settings unless I delete the cookies manually first …

Sorry, don’t know if I ever posted this anywhere other than the TXP Forum but if you download the latest version (0.2.1) of the plugin it should take care of that problem.
