GMail Drive
It seems these days that its harder to give away a GMail invite than it is to find one. For those with an account wondering what in the world you’d ever do with 1GB of storage, here’s your answer….The Gmail Drive.
This application turns your GMail account into an online storage system. Windows users can drag and drop files onto the GMail Drive using windows explorer. The drive behaves like any other network resource. Each file is translated into an email message with an attachment. If you login the GMail account after uploading files you’ll see each message neatly displayed with the filename and size in the message subject. This allows access to your files even when working on a PC without the GMail FS installed.
Altough I’ve only used the Windows version, the idea was originally implemented by Richard Jones for use on linux filesystems.
I’ve used the Yahoo! Briefcase in the past for online storage but you just can’t beat hte convenience of drag and drop. So if you have those extra invites and don’t know what to do with them, turn one into an online storage account.

For those who are looking programs for using Gmail as online storage, check out Vombato Mail Drive which now has GMail support. It also allows you to use any of your POP3 email server the same way.
