The rss_admin_db_manager plugin ransom was a success! Thanks again to all who donated to the campaign.
Here are some fun and geeky facts related to the campaign for those that are interested in the details.
- The total of $222 USD was met with 18 donations
- After PayPal fees, the actual amount collected was $210.98
- 2 people donated twice
- 4 people donated the $20 necessary to be listed on the plugin page
- 7 donations came from within the US while 11 donations came from elsewhere in the world
- The average donation before fees was $12.33
- The largest single donation was $41
- The smallest single donation was $1
- The ransom took 8 days, 8 hours and 35 minutes to be met
Overall, I think the campaign went well. I didn’t have any idea what to expect when I posted it but I’m encouraged by the results. Seeing people’s appreciation and support should provide some motivation to roll out a bunch of new plugins that I haven’t had time to release yet.
Looks like we’re at about 100 downloads in the 12 hours since the plugin was released so hopefully its being put to good use already. Enjoy and thanks again to everyone who donated to the campaign.

I just stumbled onto this plug-in after the ransom. Really excellent work. I have been using Johan Nilsson’s glx_admin_db_tables to monitor errors (I constantly get errors in the “txp_discuss_nonce” table) but this really gives a nice comprehensive overview of the whole DB. My one and only suggestion would be to provide a warning service for errors—maybe send an email when something goes wrong or have an RSS feed that monitors the tables’ health. Not sure if that would be a lot of work, though.
Really great job, Rob.

I greatly appreciate this plugin. While I didn’t donate (you already knew that), I did link to it from my site. It has come in handy already, as I used it to uninstall languages in TXP 4.0, after I realized there wasn’t any option to do so via the Admin interface. I’m sure it will be a must-have plugin for many many users. Thanks a bunch. :)
