You need to demand recognition for it. They can’t really believe it’s their idea…

well i recognize it, whether it was an original composition for both authors or not.
and i think most of the textpattern community does too.
sorry the forum discussion went blah. :-/

You know what they say about great minds… ;)
Seriously, though, I don’t see anything dubious here. Dean’s got the equivalent of like eight full-time jobs, so I can certainly believe that he doesn’t keep up with what’s going on in the plugin world. And when you get right down to it, having a quick-access menu in an HTML SELECT element isn’t really an original idea; it’s been used in a lot of different places and systems for a long time. So my money’s on it just being a coincidence.

Rob,
My worst fear about this is that you’d feel your effort has been marginalised or dismissed. Please know it hasn’t: the conflict on the forum can be blamed entirely on the prissy boring axe-grinding of ‘kenneth’, who clearly knows not much about anything, and is eager to show it. This has nothing to do with your work, which is great.

What’s the use of having dull axes?
Also, I find nothing prissy or boring about standing up for a respected developer. Rob makes some of the best plugins for Textpattern. His QuikPik was widely used and popular, so it’s only logical to assume the development staff had noticed it and decided to use it. Sorry that the question was taken as an accusation, but I have no control over how you or anyone else take a comment.

Christ, you dolt, you were wrong. All available evidence will evidently not convince you, so, what? Want to talk about the existence of fairies and elves?

!?
Jesus, man, spend less time defending yourself and more time reading what I wrote. I said I was defending a developer becuase it seemed logical to me that a plugin as great as his would have been noticed by the staff. Again I assumed it would have been noticed.

Holy cow, what have I stumbled into? I’ve gotta take sides with Rob here and say that he deserves some sort of credit for the idea.
