Plugin Errors
Many people have been reporting plugin errors lately. Recent changes in Textpattern have added the ability to set the logging levels within your application. By default, error logging in now on which leads to messages such as this:
Notice: Undefined variable: atts in /home/user/stuff/web/textpattern/lib/txplib_misc.php(429) : eval()'d code on line 67
What’s the problem?
This type of error should not stop the plugin from executing. Its just a matter of some sloppy coding. While I haven’t tried it, my suggestion for now is to adjust the the Production Status option on the Site Preferences tab. I would expect the Live setting to hide error messages as the one shown above.
1.0 and Beyond
As version 1.0 of Textpattern is on the cusp of being released, I plan on releasing new version of all plugins. The version numbers on all will change to 1.0. Going forward I will attempt to keep those version numbers in sync with the official Textpattern version number. This should make it easy for people to know which version of Textpattern the plugin is compatible with.

smart point. maybe you should suggest some sort of naming scheme for version numbers of plugins, so that from here out all/most plugins would reflect up to what versions they’re compatible with.
tricky business though, as backwards compatibility is sometimes not so with the older revisions.
i still mull over ways to clearly present version compatibilities on Textpattern Resources, but beyond people volunteering their personal experiences and commenting which versions they’ve successfully/unsuccessfully used the plugin with, i dunno….
might also want to keep available old versions of plugins, just in case there are people who rely on old versions of Textpattern, for one reason or another.
